Baci Sospesi in a different setting

At Nanpantan Hall, in the English countryside near Loughborough, Barbara presented Baci Sospesi during a four-day residential retreat organised by Dino Tartaglia and Simon Hartley for entrepreneurs and freelancers. Around forty people attended the retreat.

The project entered this setting through a temporary installation. Participants could contribute messages, bringing the project’s invitation into a gathering organised around professional life.

The messages flew to Passoscuro

The messages collected at the retreat later travelled to the Baci Sospesi installation in Passoscuro. The temporary encounter left something that could reach people elsewhere, beyond the duration and location of the event.

This movement is central to Baci Sospesi. A contribution can become available to a person its author has never met. The same principle runs through the anonymous audio portraits and the paper messages held by the permanent installations.

Temporary and permanent forms

Baci Sospesi can acquire different bodies in different contexts. While Passoscuro offers an enduring public place beside the sea, the retreat opened a temporary occasion to meet the project and contribute to it. The messages connect these two settings.

If you are considering a new setting for Baci Sospesi, write to Barbara about the place, the people who would be involved and what could remain available afterwards.
